Former rugby player sentenced to 30 months in prison for participating in a $900,000 crypto-mining Ponzi scheme
Online reports, Decrypt reported that former semi-professional football player Shane Donovan Moore was sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison for running a fake cryptocurrency mining scam. Between January 2021 and October 2022, Moore defrauded more than 40 investors through Quantum Donovan LLC and defrauded more than $900,000. He promised investors 1% of the daily mining income, but actually used the funds to purchase personal consumption such as luxury apartments, luxury goods and electronics, while paying small returns to early investors in the Ponzi model to maintain the scam.
