U.S. Democratic leaders propose bill to crack down on "crypto corruption"
Internet reports that U.S. Democratic Party leader Rep. Maxine Waters has proposed a new bill aimed at addressing concerns raised by the president's involvement in digital assets and calling for an end to "cryptocurrency corruption." Waters and 14 other Democratic co-sponsors introduced the Stop Trading, Retention, and Unfair Market Payoffs in Crypto Act of 2025. The bill aims to prohibit the president, vice president, members of Congress and their immediate family members from "holding a proportion sufficient to allow them to unilaterally make changes to digital assets," among other related provisions.
