Microsoft's Russian subsidiary will file for bankruptcy

According to online reports, a Russian subsidiary of Microsoft (MSFT.O) plans to file for bankruptcy, according to a document released on Friday in the Official Registry of Resources of The Russian Federation. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this week that foreign service providers such as Microsoft and Zoom should be "restricted" in Russia to make way for local software solutions. After the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Microsoft continued to provide key services in Russia, but in June 2022 the company said it would significantly reduce the scale of operations in Russia due to changes in the economic outlook and the impact on its business in Russia. Documents released by the Federal Resource Registry on Friday stated that Microsoft Rus LLC intends to declare bankruptcy.
