GWM's (HKG: 2333) electric vehicle (EV) brand Ora has unveiled the Ora 5 electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) after years of silence in the Chinese EV market.
The brand introduced the Ora 5 at an event last night, marking its first electric SUV model.
The vehicle features styling reminiscent of conventional SUVs, incorporating design elements from other Ora models like the Ora Good Cat in its front face and rear end.
The Ora 5 is a compact SUV measuring 4,471 mm in length, 1,833/1,844 mm in width, and 1,641 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.
It is powered by a single motor delivering a peak power output of 150 kW (201 horsepower). Its curb weight ranges from 1,540 to 1,655 kilograms, with a top speed of 170 kilometers per hour.
The Ora 5 offers five exterior color options: gray, white, red, blue, and beige, along with three interior color choices: white, brown, and gray.
Notably, the vehicle features a LiDAR sensor mounted on the roof, enabling advanced driver assistance capabilities.
Release date and pricing details for the electric SUV remain undisclosed.
The Ora brand was launched in 2018 targeting the sub-RMB 100,000 ($14,020) compact EV market.
With no new models launched in over two years, its current lineup comprises the Ora Good Cat, Ora Good Cat GT, Ora Lightning Cat, and Ora Ballet Cat, achieving August sales of 5,223 units.
On June 20, GWM held a mid-year dealer strategy meeting in Baoding, Hebei, where Ora's revival was a key topic, according to a June 26 report by local media AutoPix.
GWM informed dealers that Ora would rebuild its independent channel and showcased four new Ora models, including several SUVs, per the report.
