Ukraine allies "may consider relaxing sanctions against Russia after ceasefire"

Internet reports that sources close to the president of the European Commission said that if a comprehensive ceasefire agreement can be reached, Ukraine's allies are evaluating the gradual relaxation of sanctions on Russia. The source added that sanctions would be reimposed if there was a violation of the agreement. They want an immediate 15-day ceasefire (during which time sanctions will remain in effect) before a more organized suspension of the conflict in Ukraine can be achieved. In addition, Italian government sources said they would push Trump to include Europe in his discussions with Ukraine during a video call with Putin later today. "He has been asking European countries to increase military spending, so we have to be involved in these decisions," an Italian diplomat explained. During the call, Italy will emphasize the need for clear military, economic and political guarantees for Ukraine, the source added. (Sky News)
