Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has unveiled the first glimpse of the interior of its third-generation ES8 SUV (sport utility vehicle) ahead of its debut next week.

The two interior images shared by the electric vehicle (EV) maker today show that the new ES8 features a horizontal central screen similar to that of the ET9 sedan, differing from the vertical screen of its predecessor.

Behind the steering wheel and central screen is another long screen, which is also found on the ET9.

Nio will unveil the all-new ES8 on August 21, with an event starting at 7:30 pm Beijing time.

The event will be held in Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan province, and will focus on the new ES8's product and technology highlights. Its official launch will take place next month at Nio Day 2025.

The all-new ES8 is a full-scenario technology flagship SUV designed to meet the needs of users in business, family, and personal use scenarios, said Ted Li, Nio's vice president of product, on Weibo today.

The model's positioning has been upgraded from mid-to-large-size to large-size, with a length of 5,280 mm and a wheelbase of 3,013 mm, making it the largest pure electric SUV currently available in the Chinese market, Li noted.

This size makes the ES8 the largest model in terms of interior space in Nio's history, he said.

The SUV, which comes in six- and seven-seat configurations, measures 5,280 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,250 mm, according to a previous regulatory filing.

Its predecessor had a length, width, and height of 5,099 mm, 1,989 mm, and 1,750 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm.

Li said that the new ES8 offers a space experience far surpassing that of luxury SUVs in its class, as well as the ride comfort and space experience of a high-end business MPV, which is why Nio does not offer an MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) model.

"With the new ES8, you get a luxury SUV and a business MPV in one," he said.

In addition to its groundbreaking design and disruptive space, the new ES8 also features flagship smart driving chips, an full-domain operating system, and an intelligent chassis, Li emphasized.
