JPMorgan Chase will provide OpenAI with more than $7 billion in loan for data centers
According to online reports, people familiar with the matter revealed that JPMorgan Chase agreed to provide more than US$7 billion in loans to companies building the OpenAI giant artificial intelligence data center park in Abilene, Texas. The deal with JPMorgan shows the continued interest of financial institutions and investors in supporting the physical infrastructure needed to develop advanced artificial intelligence software. The bank had previously provided a $2.3 billion loan to companies developing the Abilene data center to fund the first phase of the project. The latest $7 billion loan will supplement the funds needed to build the data center. When completed, the data center will become one of the largest centers in the world, with a total of eight buildings costing US$1.4 billion each. The data center can accommodate a total of 400,000 Nvidia chips.
