Draft cWETH, a new Ethereum privacy plan, released

On June 18, a proposal called "Confidential Wrapped Ethereum Privacy" was released at the Ethereum Research Forum. The proposal introduces the concept of a confidential packaging version of Ethereum (cWETH), which aims to achieve privacy protection for ETH transactions through the application layer. cWETH combines the elliptic curve Twisted ElGamal commitment mechanism with the Diffie-Hellman protocol, and uses zk-SNARKs to verify transaction legitimacy, allowing users to make point-to-point payments without revealing the balance and transfer amount. Compared with existing solutions, cWETH can access encryption balances without solving the discrete logarithm problem, improving efficiency. This solution is expected to develop into a complete Confidential Token Standard (EIP).
