BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has achieved a new milestone in India as Sino-Indian relations show signs of improvement.

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker delivered its 10,000th vehicle in India, according to a post today on the semi-official Weibo account @小迪快报.

The Weibo post provided no further details but shared a short video showing BYD India celebrating the moment.

BYD has launched four models in India: the all-electric MPV BYD eMax 7, the electric sedan Seal, the SUV Atto 3, and the Sealion 7.

The Atto 3 is known as the Yuan Plus in China, while the Sealion 7 is the Sealion 07.

The Sealion 7 began accepting pre-orders in India in late January, marking BYD's latest model launch there.

BYD planned to expand its Indian dealer network to 40 locations in January 2025, the company said at the time of introducing the Sealion 7.

The latest milestone coincides with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to China and potential thaw in Sino-Indian relations.

This marks Modi's first visit to China since the 2020 border standoff, with Chinese leaders emphasizing that China and India can become partners.

In July 2023, reports indicated BYD sought approval from Indian authorities to build a NEV factory locally but was denied.
