Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) will establish its European manufacturing base in Zaragoza, Spain, at Stellantis' existing vehicle assembly plant, according to a report today by local media outlet FNews.

Following plant modifications, production will initially focus on Leapmotor's B-series models, with manufacturing slated to commence in the third quarter of next year, the report said.

The first model to roll off the production line will be the Leapmotor B10, followed by the B05, the report said.

Leapmotor launched the B10 compact SUV in China on April 10, marking the first global model in its B series lineup.

Earlier this week, Leapmotor announced the B10 will be launched and begin deliveries in Europe at the IAA Mobility 2025 event in Munich, Germany, on September 8.

Leapmotor has yet to launch the B05 in China; the model will debut at IAA Mobility 2025 in September, FNews said.

The B05 may be priced below RMB 100,000 ($14,000) in China and potentially under £30,000 ($40,520) in Europe, the report stated.

On October 26, 2023, Leapmotor announced that Stellantis would invest €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) for about a 20 percent stake, becoming the EV maker's largest external shareholder.

In March 2024, Reuters reported that Leapmotor would begin producing its T03 compact electric vehicle at a Stellantis plant in Poland.

In a new report last June, Reuters cited a Jefferies note as saying that Leapmotor management indicated during an analyst call that its first batch of T03s had rolled off the assembly line at Stellantis' Polish facility, with mass production slated to commence in September 2024.

However, a Reuters report in April this year said that Stellantis announced it had halted production of the Leapmotor T03 in Poland from March 30 and was evaluating alternative production plans.
