BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) officially entered the Argentine market on August 27, introducing three models as the first batch, according to the company's statement today.
The cars include the all-electric Dolphin Mini and Yuan Pro, and the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) Song Pro DM-i.
The Dolphin Mini is known as the Seagull in China, the Yuan Pro as the Yuan Up, while the Song Pro DM-i retains its Chinese name. In other overseas markets like Costa Rica, the Yuan Up was rebranded as the S1 Pro.
BYD has already begun accepting pre-orders for these three models in Argentina.
Argentina represents a key market for BYD's regional expansion, said Deng Yuan, the company's country manager for Argentina.
BYD plans to introduce a series of new energy vehicle (NEV) models in Argentina and advance charging infrastructure development, Deng added.
BYD sold 344,296 NEVs in July, marking a 0.56 percent year-on-year increase but a 10.01 percent decrease from June, according to data released on August 1.
Overseas sales reached 80,737 units in July, surging 169.00 percent year-on-year but declining 10.34 percent month-on-month.
