Gemini filed a complaint with the CFTC, accusing the agency's law enforcement department of launching a seven-year\legal battle\operation

Internet reports that cryptocurrency exchange Gemini filed a complaint with the CFTC Inspector General, accusing the agency's law enforcement department of launching a seven-year "legal battle" operation, saying it was motivated by career promotion rather than consumer protection. Gemini said the entire investigation originated from a "false" tip by Benjamin Small, a fired former chief operating officer, who was later found to have committed fraud by an arbitrator. Despite this, Gemini ultimately paid a $5 million fine to resolve the case.
