BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) launches mini electric car Seagull in Brazil and Mexico, bringing its cheapest model to South America。

BYD today announced that Seagull recently launched in Brazil and Mexico, becoming BYD's latest Marine Series model to launch in these two markets, following the Seal and Dolphin。

BYD says this is Seagull's debut in Latin America and the car will be available in more Latin American markets in the future。

Seagulls known as mini dolphins in Brazil and Mexico。Dolphin is another slightly more expensive model in BYD's Ocean series。

BYD-branded models include the Ocean series, which is mainly named after sea creatures and ships, and the Dynasty series, which is named after a Chinese dynasty.。

BYD launched Seagull on April 26, 2023. The model is currently available in three versions in China, starting at 73,800 yuan ($10,250), 78,800 yuan and 89,800 yuan, which is BYD's cheapest。

Its two lowest-priced versions have a CLTC range of 305 kilometers, and the highest-priced version has a range of 405 kilometers。

On February 19, the company launched the Qin Plus Honor Edition and the Chaser 05 Honor Edition, and the starting price of both models was reduced to 7.980,000 yuan, only 6,000 yuan higher than seagulls。

BYD has yet to launch an updated version of Seagull in the latest round of model updates。

BYD said the Seagull has two versions in Mexico, with NEDC ranges of 300km and 380km respectively.。

The model starts at 358,800 Mexican pesos ($21,100) in Mexico。

There is only one version of Seagull in Brazil. The NEDC has a range of 380 kilometers and a charge of 80% in 30 minutes from 30 yuan.。

Tyler Li, general manager of BYD Brazil, said Dolphin's launch quickly upended Brazil's traditional car landscape, and now the company has launched another attractive new product, Seagull。

According to data compiled by CnEVPost, the Seagull is one of BYD's best-selling models, with sales of 280,217 units in 2023, accounting for 9% of BYD's annual sales of 3,024,417 units.。

BYD sold 122,311 new energy vehicles in February, and the Seagull was BYD's fourth highest-selling model with 13,492 sales.。
