Survey shows Trump's tariff measures may cause dissatisfaction among U.S. consumers

Internet reports that a survey conducted by Harris shows that U.S. President Donald Trump is facing difficulty convincing U.S. consumers of the benefits of a trade war. A majority of U.S. adults (56%) said their families 'finances would be better if Trump's tariffs had not been implemented. About 52% of respondents said the promised benefits of imposing tariffs were not enough to offset the economic costs they paid. The assessment comes after Trump's Liberation Day tariff plan, which pushed U.S. taxes on imported goods to the highest level in nearly a century, became the largest protectionist move in the United States since the 1930s. Financial markets were volatile after the tariffs were introduced, raising new concerns that the United States could fall into recession.
