Brave Browser launches the\.brave\blockchain domain name, becoming the first mainstream browser to have its own on-chain domain name
Online reports, according to The Block, privacy browser Brave has partnered with Unstoppable Domains to launch the ".brave" blockchain domain name, becoming the first mainstream web browser to have its own domain name on the chain. The domain name will be minted on the Polygon blockchain as an NFT without renewal, can replace complex crypto wallet addresses, and supports hosting decentralized websites on IPFS. The ".brave" domain name will natively support resolution in Brave browser version 1.81 (expected to be released in August 2025), and it is planned to apply for ICANN generic top-level domain registration in 2026 to achieve full compatibility between Web2 and Web3 environments.
