Trump urges Powell to cut interest rates as the latter gains support from members of Congress
Internet reports that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell said on Tuesday that members of Congress privately told him that although Trump accused Powell and the Fed of not cutting interest rates, the Fed was "doing the right thing" on interest rates. When testifying before the House Financial Services Committee, Powell was asked if he had heard from people "of both parties" that interest rates should fall. Powell replied: "I have spoken privately to a lot of congressmen and they say you are doing the right thing. I have heard many congressmen say this in private."
