China NEV retail at 697,000 in Sept 1-21, up 10% year-on-year

China's new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales accelerated further last week, driving faster growth so far this month.

Passenger NEV retail sales in China reached 697,000 units in the September 1-21 period, up 10 percent year-on-year and up 11 percent month-on-month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

By comparison, passenger NEV retail sales from September 1-14 totaled 438,000 units, a lower year-on-year growth rate of 6 percent and a 10 percent increase from the previous month.

Year-to-date, China's cumulative passenger NEV retail sales came in at 8.27 million units, up 24 percent year-on-year.

Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs from September 1-21 totaled 724,000 units, a 10 percent increase year-on-year and a 19 percent rise month-on-month, according to the CPCA.

Year-to-date, China's cumulative passenger NEV wholesale sales reached 9.67 million units, up 31 percent year-on-year.

From September 1 to 21, China's total passenger vehicle retail sales reached 1.191 million units, up 1 percent year-on-year and up 8 percent month-on-month.

Year-to-date, China's cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles reached 15.96 million units, up 9 percent year-on-year.

This indicates that China's NEV retail penetration rate stood at 58.5 percent during September 1-21 and 51.8 percent year-to-date.

During the first week of September, September 1-7, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales were 43,483 units, down 10 percent year-on-year and 4 percent month-on-month.

In the second week of September, September 8-14, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales reached 61,142 units, up 1 percent year-on-year and 15 percent month-on-month.

During the third week of September, September 15-21, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales reached 65,464 units, marking a 9 percent year-on-year increase and a 10 percent rise compared to the same period last month.

From September 1-21, China's total passenger vehicle wholesale sales stood at 1.307 million units, remaining flat year-on-year but growing 16 percent compared to the same period last month.

From September 1-7, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger vehicles reached 43,908 units, down 5 percent year-on-year but up 9 percent compared to the same period last month.

From September 8-14, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger vehicles totaled 66,634 units, down 1 percent year-on-year but up 26 percent compared to the same period last month.

From September 15-21, China's daily average wholesale sales of passenger vehicles reached 76,203 units, up 6 percent year-on-year and up 13 percent month-on-month.

Year-to-date wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in China reached 19.35 million units, a 12 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
