Office of the U.S. Trade Representative: Negotiations are underway on alternatives to peer-to-peer trade

Online reported that the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said on Friday that it was constantly engaging with Japan and other countries on alternative reciprocal trade arrangements that could eliminate or reduce the current 10% tariff level on most countries. A spokesman for the U.S. Trade Representative's Office said in an emailed statement that the negotiations are substantive and technical, but that President Donald Trump "will ultimately decide whether to enter into alternative arrangements with any country."
