Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) today announced that it will officially launch its first electric vehicle (EV) model SU7 on March 28。

Xiaomi EV, the electric car division of Xiaomi, said on Weibo that SU7 will start delivery after launch。Its formulation of delivery is vague and may also mean that delivery will begin shortly after launch。

Xiaomi SU7 will open the customer experience from March 25 and is currently open for pre-orders。

The first batch of shops selling the model show cars are located in 59 of 29 cities.。

Xiaomi officially announced on March 30, 2021 to join the trend of car building and debuted on December 28, 2023 SU7。

Lu Weibing, president of the Xiaomi Group, said the official launch of the Xiaomi SU7 was "very much anticipated," according to a CNBC report on February 26, and said domestic deliveries would start as early as the second quarter.。

On February 27, a Zeekr executive said in a media interview after the release of the Zeekr 001 update that he heard that Xiaomi's first electric model will be officially launched on March 28。

Xiaomi then responded that the specific release date of Xiaomi SU7 will be announced through official channels。

Xiaomi has not previously mentioned the possible price range of SU7。A local media interface reported on Jan. 30, citing an unnamed source at a major insurance company, that the SU7's top fitting could sell for 361,400 yuan ($50,310) at the time of insurance purchase.。

Interface News pointed out that this means that the starting price of the Xiaomi SU7 could be between 250,000 and 370,000 yuan。

For reference only, Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 sedan currently has two versions in China, starting at RMB 245,900 and RMB 285,900 respectively。Xiaomi SU7 is bigger than Model 3。

Before the launch of the SU7 on December 28, someone joked that the model should be priced at 99,000 yuan or 199,000 yuan, so that Xiaomi can achieve the same success in the electric car market as it did in the smartphone market initially。

On January 22, Lei Jun, founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, said in an interview with CCTV that the price of Xiaomi SU7 will not be 9.90,000 yuan, 19.90,000 yuan, pricing may be a bit expensive indeed。

Lei Jun said on December 28 that Xiaomi hopes to become one of the top five car companies in the world through 15-20 years of efforts, and plans to become one of the top enterprises in the field of intelligent driving by 2024。

Some Wall Street analysts are bullish on Xiaomi's potential in the field of electric vehicles, and Morgan Stanley analysts said in a research report on January 14 that Xiaomi electric vehicles may become a disruptor.。

Unlike t According to the direct model adopted by China's major new car-building forces, sales of Xiaomi electric cars will include direct stores and so-called 2S (sales and service) authorized stores.。

On January 2, Lu said on Weibo that the Xiaomi Group signed a letter of intent with the first 14 sales and service partners at its headquarters in Beijing on December 29.。

Lu said at the time that the new retail of Xiaomi electric vehicles is centered on direct sales, with the help of high-quality external forces, the pursuit of extreme commercial efficiency and user experience.。
