BYD brings Yuan Up compact SUV to Hong Kong

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched the Yuan Up in Hong Kong, bringing the compact pure electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) to more regions.

The Yuan Up has been renamed Atto 2 in Hong Kong and is jointly launched by BYD and its local dealer partner Harmony Auto, according to a statement today.

The starting price for the model in Hong Kong is 155,000 Hong Kong dollars (19,750 US dollars), with a post-tax price of 169,800 Hong Kong dollars.

The vehicle is equipped with a 51.13-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery , offering an NEDC range of 410 kilometers.

The Atto 2 is an electric vehicle that young people and small families can afford, said Liu Xue Liang, general manager of BYD Asia Pacific sales division.

He said that the Atto 2 had already received more than 200 orders before its launch in Hong Kong.

Currently, the BYD Yuan Up has eight variants in the Chinese mainland, with starting prices ranging from 96,800 yuan ($13,500) to 119,800 yuan.

The Yuan Up was initially launched in March 2024 and has since been introduced in international markets including Europe, Brazil, Peru, and Malaysia.

Since 2022, BYD has sold over 17,000 vehicles in Hong Kong. Currently, it operates 12 stores and five after-sales service centers in Hong Kong.

BYD sold 344,296 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in July, representing a year-on-year increase of 0.56 percent but a month-on-month decrease of 10.01 percent, according to data released by the company.

It sold 80,737 vehicles overseas in July, marking a year-on-year increase of 169.00 percent but a month-on-month decrease of 10.34 percent.
