Volkswagen Anhui, the majority-owned Chinese joint venture of German automaker Volkswagen, has filed for a new electric vehicle (EV) model to expand its product lineup in the market.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released its latest catalog of vehicles that will be permitted for sale yesterday, seeking public feedback. Volkswagen Anhui's ID.UNYX 07 electric sedan is included in this catalog.

Public feedback can be submitted between October 10-15. Inclusion in this catalog represents the final major regulatory step before a vehicle can be sold in China.

The ID.UNYX 07 has a single page in the catalog under the model code VWA70002BEV1.

The sedan measures 4,853 mm in length, 1,852 mm in width, and 1,566 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,826 mm.

These dimensions slightly exceed those of Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3, which measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,848 mm in width, and 1,442 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.

The ID.UNYX 07 has a curb weight of 2,057 kg and a maximum supported speed of 160 km/h.

The model features a single electric motor delivering a maximum power output of 170 kW (228 horsepower).

It utilizes a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Gotion High-tech.

Volkswagen Anhui is a joint venture established in 2017 between Volkswagen and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), marking Volkswagen's first China-based joint venture dedicated to new energy vehicles (NEVs).

Originally named Jianghuai Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd, Volkswagen increased its stake to 75 percent by the end of 2020 and renamed the company Volkswagen Anhui.

Volkswagen Anhui constructed Volkswagen's third MEB platform factory in China and produces pure electric vehicles based on this platform.
