California governor: U.S. government's "illegal" tariff policy has serious consequences
Internet reports that California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized the federal government's "unilateral" and "illegal" tariff policy in a program broadcast on May 30, believing that it was having serious consequences for the U.S. economy. "Hand of Midas" Network, one of the most popular podcasting platforms in the United States, broadcast an exclusive interview with Newsom on May 30. Newsom said that a series of recent macroeconomic data show that the U.S. economy is shrinking, and due to supply chain blockages and supply shortages, the negative impact and chaos "entirely caused by the Trump administration itself" are intensifying. Newsom said that the latest data from California ports showed that a total of 17 cargo ships in the Port of Los Angeles cancelled their port entry dates in May, and 10 cargo ships canceled their scheduled port entry dates in June. At the Port of Auckland, the number of cargo ships entering Hong Kong decreased by 15% year-on-year in May. At the same time, container space fees are rising. (Jin Shi)
