Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y L is coming soon in China, the electric vehicle (EV) maker announced today on Weibo.
The company did not mention anything else except sharing a preview video showing a few details of the model.
Tesla said last month that the six-seat Model Y L would be launched in China this fall.
The SUV (sport utility vehicle) appeared in China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's regulatory filing catalog last month, showing it measures 4,976 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,668 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm.
For comparison, the updated five-seat Model Y, which went on sale in China on January 10, measures 4,797 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,624 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.
The Model Y L filed by Tesla is a dual-motor vehicle with peak power outputs of 142 kW and 198 kW for the front and rear motors, respectively.
It is equipped with an 82.0-kWh ternary battery pack from South Korea's LG Energy Solution, with a CLTC range of 751 kilometers, according to its filing information.
There is currently no information on the price of the Model Y L, although some local media previously reported that it would be around RMB 400,000 yuan ($55,720).
Earlier today, some car bloggers shared photos showing the Model Y L being transported. Some Model Y Ls have already arrived at Tesla service centers, according to these images.
The upcoming arrival of the Model Y L will intensify competition in China's six-seat electric SUV market and the broader SUV market.
On July 16, the day Tesla first mentioned the Model Y L, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li commented on Weibo that the era of pure electrification for large SUVs has arrived.
Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) founder, chairman, and CEO Li Xiang also commented on Weibo on the same day, stating that the Model Y L is a six-seat electric SUV worthy of respect.
