Internet reports that on August 2 local time, the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the U.S. federal supervisory agency, confirmed that Jack Smith, the former special prosecutor who was in charge of the Trump case, was under investigation for "suspected illegal political activities." Smith was previously responsible for the investigation and litigation of Trump's alleged overturning of the 2020 presidential election results and the mishandling of confidential government documents.
