Online reports that under new rules from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) that will take effect on October 8, retail investors in the UK will soon be able to purchase cryptocurrency exchange-traded notes (cETN). cETN must be listed on a UK exchange approved by the FCA and comply with financial promotion and consumer responsibility rules. Although retail users are allowed to use cETN, it will not be covered by the Financial Services Compensation Plan. The UK's Financial Conduct Authority previously banned retail investors from accessing crypto ETN in 2021, citing concerns about investor protection issues.
