Great Wall Motor's (GWM) personalized brand Tank announced today that it will begin pre-sales of the updated Tank 500 SUV (sport utility vehicle) on August 11.
The biggest upgrade to the updated Tank 500 is in vehicle intelligence, such as smart driving and parking assistance, GWM chairman Wei Jianjun said today in a video posted on Weibo.
A refrigerator, TV, and large sofa will also be featured in the SUV, Wei said.
The updated Tank 500 has a length, width, and height of 5,078 mm, 1,934 mm, and 1,905 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm, the same as its predecessor.
The vehicle will continue to offer Hi4-T and Hi4-Z powertrains, with the former focusing more on off-road performance and the latter on family use.
Both the Hi4-T and Hi4-Z are equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.0-liter engine and electric motors.
The Tank 500 Hi4-T is equipped with a single electric motor with a maximum power output of 120 kW. It features a battery pack with a capacity of 37.1 kWh, offering a battery range of 110 kilometers.
The Tank 500 Hi4-Z is equipped with dual electric motors, delivering a combined power output of 455 kW. It features a battery pack with a capacity of 59.05 kWh, offering a battery range of 201 kilometers.
The updated Tank 500 will be equipped with ATX LiDAR provided by Hesai Group (NASDAQ: HSAI) and GWM's third-generation driver assistance system, Coffee Pilot Ultra.
The Tank brand sold 20,020 vehicles in July, up 7.16 percent year-on-year, contributing 19.18 percent of GWM's monthly sales, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first seven months of the year, the Tank brand sold 123,680 vehicles, down 8.19 percent year-on-year.
