China's overall new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales barely exceeded 1 million units last month, with growth continuing to slow.
In July, China's passenger NEV retail sales came in at 1.003 million units, up 14 percent year-on-year, but down 10 percent from June, according to preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
For reference, China's passenger NEV retail sales in June were 1.111 million units, up 30 percent year-on-year.
So far this year, China's cumulative passenger NEV retail sales were 6.47 million units, up 30 percent year-on-year, according to the CPCA.
China's passenger NEV wholesale sales in July were 1.179 million units, up 25 percent year-on-year, but down 4 percent from June.
So far this year, China's cumulative wholesale sales of passenger NEVs reached 7.63 million units, up 35 percent year-on-year.
In July, China's total retail sales of passenger vehicles reached 1.834 million units, up 7 percent year-on-year, but down 12 percent from June.
So far this year, China's cumulative retail sales of passenger vehicles reached 12.74 million units, up 10 percent year-on-year.
This means that the penetration rate of NEVs in retail sales was 54.7 percent in July and 50.81 percent year-to-date.
In the first week of July, July 1-6, the average daily retail sales of passenger vehicles in China were 39,660, up 1 percent year-on-year, but down 6 percent compared to the same period last month.
In the second week of July, July 7-13, the average daily retail sales of passenger vehicles in China were 47,548, up 11 percent year-on-year, but down 4 percent compared with the same period last month.
In the third week of July, July 14-20, the average daily retail sales of passenger vehicles in China were 58,207, up 17 percent year-on-year, but down 20 percent compared with the same period last month.
In the fourth week of July, July 21-27, China's daily retail sales of passenger cars averaged 66,611, up 5 percent year-on-year, but down 30 percent from the same period last month.
In the fifth week of July, July 28-31, China's daily retail sales of passenger cars averaged 97,491, down 1 percent year-on-year and down 4 percent from the same period last month.
In July, China's total wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 2.192 million units, up 12 percent year-on-year, but down 12 percent compared with the same period last month.
From July 1 to 6, China's daily wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 38,757, up 39 percent year-on-year and flat compared with the same period last month.
From July 7 to 13, the average daily wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in China were 46,085, up 31 percent year-on-year, but down 12 percent from the same period last month.
From July 14 to 20, the average daily wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in China were 57,826, up 8 percent year-on-year, but down 17 percent from the same period last month.
From July 21 to 27, China's daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 77,867, up 10 percent year-on-year, but down 41 percent from the same period last month.
From July 28 to 31, China's daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 171,756, up 1 percent year-on-year and up 11 percent from the same period last month.
Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in China this year reached 15.47 million units, up 12 percent year-on-year.
