Ledger hardware wallet restrictions prevent some ADA holders from participating in receiving Glacier airdrops "

Internet reports that due to limitations on Ledger's hardware wallet software, some Cardano users are unable to receive Midnight Foundation's Glacier airdrop. Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Cardano, explained that the problem lies in Ledger's implementation of the CIP-8 message signing protocol, which currently only supports 31 bytes of message signatures, while Glacier airdrops require 251 bytes. Cardano developers said they are rolling out a temporary solution that will use metadata from empty transactions to include airdrop data. Fahmi Syed, chairman of the Midnight Foundation, said that affected users will not lose their eligibility for airdrops and that the official solution is expected to be launched before August 25, while reminding users to be wary of fake websites and unauthorized solutions.
