Zelensky: Consider holding highest-level multi-party talks and hope that the meeting will be held as soon as possible
Internet reports that Ukraine President Zelensky said that he had two different phone calls with U.S. President Trump on Monday. The first time was a separate dialogue between the two, and the second time was attended by leaders of France, Finland, Germany, Italy and the European Union. Zelensky said that the second call was longer and its nature was different. Zelensky said that we are considering holding a meeting at the highest level among all parties, including Ukraine, Russia, the United States, EU countries and the United Kingdom. He pointed out that Turkey, Vatican or Switzerland could serve as the venue for the conference and hoped that the conference could be held as soon as possible. At the same time, Zelensky said that Ukraine will not withdraw its troops from parts of its territory, nor will it yield to any ultimatum put forward by Russia. He hopes that a prisoner exchange that has been previously agreed with Russia will take place in the next few days or weeks. In his first phone call with Trump, Zelensky emphasized the importance of achieving a ceasefire, continuing sanctions against Russia, and having to consult with Ukraine on any decisions involving Ukraine. In addition, Zelensky expressed his expectation that Europe will announce a new round of strong sanctions against Russia, and urged the United States to increase sanctions on Russia's banking and energy sectors to reduce Russia's funds for military spending.
