On May 15, it was reported that South Korea had smashed multiple fraud gangs that pretended to be investment experts and used high returns as bait to induce victims to invest in cryptocurrencies. It is alleged that these gangs operated in residential and office complexes in Incheon from June 2023 to April 2025, stealing a total of 730 million won (approximately US$522,000). These scams are carried out by a well-structured team that includes a mastermind, team leaders responsible for training and communication, and telephone customer service to contact victims. They operate fraud communities through telephone and social media to defraud funds.
