Several Democratic congressmen in the United States received bomb threats on Thanksgiving, all signed "MAGA"
Internet reports that U.S. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries said that party members were subjected to "threats of violence" during Thanksgiving, including bomb warnings and false reports to law enforcement in an attempt to lure SWAT teams to visit the house, which was detrimental to homeowners. Previous cabinet nominees for President-elect Donald Trump have encountered similar incidents. Incidents against Democratic lawmakers included "detailed threats about placing pipe bombs in letterboxes and attempts to lure SWAT teams to call out, all messages ending with 'MAGA'," Jeffries said in a statement Friday. The "MAGA" he refers to Trump's political slogan of "Make America Great Again." Jeffries said that because law enforcement responded quickly and no devices were found, members of Congress and their families were safe during the holiday season. Some Democratic lawmakers from Connecticut said they were targeted for the Thanksgiving event, including Rep. Jim Himes, Rosa DeLauro and Jahana Hayes. They posted the threats they received on X's social media platform.
