Nio reaches 90 million cumulative battery swap service milestone

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has surpassed 90 million cumulative battery swap services, reaching this milestone 100 days after its 80 millionth service.
The 90 millionth battery swap milestone was achieved at 10:53 pm Beijing time on October 26, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker announced late yesterday on Weibo.
Nio said that daily battery swap services now exceed 100,000, with the 100 millionth cumulative service approaching.
Cumulative electricity consumption through Nio's battery swap service has reached 4.75 billion kWh, equivalent to supplying over 2.37 million households with their annual electricity needs, according to the company.
Nio established its first battery swap station in Shenzhen on May 20, 2018, and has since continuously expanded its network of the facility.
It took 29 months to complete the first million battery swaps. On July 4, 2022, the service reached the 10-million milestone, four years after its initial launch.
Nio reached its 50 millionth battery swap on August 5, 2024, and its 60 millionth on December 13, 2024.
The company hit the 70 millionth battery swap milestone on April 1 this year, followed by the 80 millionth just under four months later on July 19.
As the owner base expands, the growth rate of battery swap services is accelerating, with the 100 millionth service expected around January 2026.
To date, Nio operates 3,539 battery swap stations and 4,770 charging stations in China.
The company's battery swap stations are available for both the Nio main brand and the Onvo sub-brand. The Firefly sub-brand's sole current model does not yet support battery swap services.
Nio Inc delivered a record 34,749 vehicles in September, bringing its cumulative deliveries since inception to 872,785 units.
