Aerofugia Technology, Geely's electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft subsidiary, has rolled off its first AE200-100 eVTOL, marking a significant milestone for the company.
The AE200-100 rolled off the production line at Aerofugia's headquarters in Chengdu, Sichuan on September 26, and is China's first passenger eVTOL product, according to a statement released yesterday.
This marks the completion of major airframe assembly and core onboard system installation for the AE200-100's first prototype, bringing the product closer to meeting requirements for manned test flights, the company said.
Aerofugia has formally entered the airworthiness certification and pre-production phase for mass-produced models, the company announced, adding that the eVTOL will undergo thousands of verification tasks for type certification.
The AE200-100 boasts a 200-kilometer range, capable of meeting demands for urban cross-city travel, airport transfers, low-altitude sightseeing, and emergency rescue, Aerofugia said.
The battery-powered product features significantly lower operating costs than helicopters of comparable size, laying the foundation for commercial operations, it noted.
Aerofugia has stocked over 1,000 commercial orders for the AE200, with orders originating from key economic regions including Sichuan, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, according to the company.
Currently, the first phase of the company's global headquarters base in Chengdu has completed its main structure topping-out, with production expected to commence in 2026.
The facility will integrate R&D, manufacturing, testing, and delivery functions to support production capacity and efficiency for the AE200 and subsequent series.
Founded in September 2020, Aerofugia is a Geely-affiliated company specializing in low-altitude mobility solutions.
The AE200 features a wingspan of 14.5 meters, height of 4.6 meters, and length of 9 meters, accommodating one pilot and four passengers.
In February this year, the AE200 airworthiness verification aircraft completed its maiden flight.
