China's new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales have surpassed 1 million units this month as the month approaches its end.
Passenger NEV retail sales in China reached 1.039 million units from September 1 to 27, up 9 percent year-on-year and up 17 percent month-on-month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
Year-to-date, China's cumulative passenger NEV retail sales reached 8.61 million units, up 24 percent year-on-year.
Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs from September 1-27 totaled 1.154 million units, a 12 percent increase year-on-year and a 21 percent rise month-on-month, according to the CPCA.
Year-to-date, China's cumulative passenger NEV wholesale sales reached 10.1 million units, up 31 percent year-on-year.
From September 1 to 27, China's total passenger vehicle retail sales reached 1.776 million units, flat year-on-year but up 12 percent month-on-month.
Year-to-date, China's cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles reached 16.54 million units, an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
This indicates that China's NEV retail penetration rate stood at 58.5 percent from September 1-27 and 52.1 percent year-to-date.
During the first week of September, September 1-7, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales were 43,483 units, down 10 percent year-on-year and down 4 percent month-on-month.
In the second week of September, September 8-14, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales were 61,142 units, up 1 percent year-on-year and up 15 percent month-on-month.
During the third week of September, September 15-21, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales were 65,386 units, a 9 percent year-on-year increase and a 10 percent rise compared to the same period last month. This figure was revised slightly downward from the 65,464 reported last week.
In the fourth week of September, September 22-27, China's average daily passenger vehicle retail sales totaled 97,631 units, a 2 percent year-on-year decrease but a 21 percent increase compared to the same period last month.
From September 1 to 27, China's total passenger vehicle wholesale sales reached 2.103 million units, up 1 percent year-on-year and up 16 percent month-on-month.
During September 1-7, China's average daily passenger vehicle wholesale sales were 43,908 units, down 5 percent year-on-year but up 9 percent month-on-month.
From September 8-14, China's average daily passenger vehicle wholesale sales reached 66,634 units, down 1 percent year-on-year but up 26 percent month-on-month.
From September 15-21, China's average daily passenger vehicle wholesale sales reached 76,426 units, up 6 percent year-on-year and 13 percent month-on-month. This figure was slightly revised upward from the 76,203 units reported last week.
From September 22 to 27, China's daily average wholesale sales of passenger vehicles reached 132,397 units, up 2 percent year-on-year and up 15 percent month-on-month.
Year-to-date wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in China reached 20.15 million units, a 12 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
