Data: 913,000 ETH pieces worth US$3.4 billion have been permanently unrecoverable, accounting for 0.76% of current circulation
According to online reports, data released by Coinbase product director Conor Grogan on Sunday showed that the number of Ethereum (ETH) units permanently lost due to user errors and code vulnerabilities has reached 913,111 (approximately US$3.43 billion), accounting for 0.76% of current circulation. If you take into account the 5.3 million ETH destroyed by EIP-1559 in the 2021 Ethereum improvement proposal, the total actual loss has reached 6.2 million (US$23.4 billion), accounting for 5%. ConorGrogan emphasized that the $3.4 billion is only a permanently locked ETH and does not include accessible but actually lost situations such as loss of private keys.
