Argentine court froze the assets of key figures related to LIBRA Meme coins and lifted bank secrecy from President Milei and his sister
A federal judge in Argentina has ordered the freezing of assets of key figures in the LIBRA meme project and the lifting of bank secrecy for President Javier Milei and his sister to investigate alleged fraud. Judge María Servini issued a ruling on May 14 investigating the project's alleged "pull-up" operations. In February, after Milei publicly supported the coin on social media, LIBRA's market capitalisation exceeded $4.5 billion at one point, but then the price plummeted by more than 85 per cent and liquidity quickly disappeared. The court imposed a 90-day asset freeze on Novelli and other three key figures, prohibiting them from transferring or selling their assets. Opposition lawmakers are currently calling for an independent investigation into the president's involvement.
