Roger Ver is sentenced to 109 years for tax evasion and sues Spain for preventing extradition to the United States
Online reports reported that Roger Ver, an early supporter of Bitcoin, is wanted by the United States on suspicion of tax evasion or faces up to 109 years in prison. He sued the Spanish government in an attempt to prevent his extradition to the United States. The United States accused him of evading "exit taxes" when he renounced his U.S. citizenship in 2014, and of concealing a large number of crypto asset transactions through its companies in 2017, with tax-related amounts of up to US$48 million. Ver has filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Justice while seeking public and legal support.
