A U.S. crypto investor kidnaps Italian businessman in New York in an attempt to obtain his financial account password
Internet reported that 37-year-old American cryptocurrency investor John Woeltz and a 24-year-old suspected female accomplice were accused of illegally detaining and torturing a 28-year-old Italian businessman in a high-end apartment in Manhattan, New York, for more than two weeks in an attempt to obtain his financial account password. The victim arrived in New York on May 6 and met with John Woeltz, with whom he had a business relationship. His passport was subsequently seized and subjected to abuse such as electric shocks, drug coercion, and chainsaw threats. It is reported that the police found multiple Polaroid photos of the victims being tied up and tortured, as well as guns, chain saws and other tools at the scene. The victim finally escaped on May 23 and called the police. John Woeltz is charged with multiple counts of first-degree kidnapping, false imprisonment, assault and illegal possession of a weapon.
