U.S. Senate votes to pass stablecoin-related GENIUS bill
According to online reports, the U.S. Senate voted 68 - 30 to advance the National Innovation Act to Guide and Establish U.S. stablecoins (GENIUS Act), which has been proposed for more than a month. Senate Majority Leader John Thune delivered a speech on the Senate floor urging members of Congress to support the bill, echoing many of President Donald Trump's views on digital assets, such as how the bill would help the United States become the "cryptocurrency capital of the world." A majority of senators, including several Democrats, voted in favor of the bill in preparation for debate and a full vote before potentially sending it to the House for further consideration.
