Federal Reserve Powell faces criminal charges from Trump allies
Internet reports that U.S. House Member Anna Paulina Luna filed criminal charges with the Justice Department, claiming that Federal Reserve Chairman Powell gave false testimony twice. Luna wrote in the letter: "On June 25, 2025, Powell testified under oath before the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee regarding the renovation of the Federal Reserve's Eccles Building. In his statement, he made several significant false statements." Luna also said: "In addition, in a letter to Russell Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Powell stated that the change in raising the project's cost from $1.9 billion to $2.5 billion is negligible. However, documents reviewed by congressional investigators indicate that the scope and cost overruns of the project were not minor issues in nature and substance." Perjury is punishable by up to 5 years in prison in addition to a fine. (Fox News)
