Dreame Technology, a Chinese brand known for its robot vacuum cleaners, continues building momentum for its automotive venture less than a month after announcing the initiative.
The company's electric vehicle (EV) unit launched its official Weibo account and published its first post yesterday, sharing a rendering of its inaugural EV model alongside partial specifications.
Dreame redefines coach doors with seven globally pioneering patents, the EV unit said on Weibo.
The model utilizes 2000 MPa aerospace-grade hot-expanded steel and features a hidden B-pillar design, achieving a body torsional stiffness exceeding 45,000 Nm/deg, it said.
Similar to images shared earlier this month by Dreame founder and CEO Yu Hao on his WeChat status, the rendering resembles a Bugatti. The prototype is slated for its debut at the next CES in the US.
On August 28, Dreame officially announced its entry into vehicle manufacturing -- a rare newcomer to the sector amid China's tightening of auto production licenses over recent years.
Dreame's debut model will be an ultra-luxury pure-electric vehicle competing with the Bugatti Veyron, slated for a 2027 debut, the company said at the time.
The company is considering Brandenburg as the location for its automotive manufacturing plant, which would enable it to leverage the region's mature localized supply chain for critical automotive components, it said earlier this month.
Local media outlet Sina Tech reported earlier today that Dreame will operate its automotive business under two brands -- Dreame Auto and Star Auto.
Dreame Auto will focus on developing models competing with Bugatti, offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options.
Star Auto primarily targets the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley segments, with four configurations currently planned. The company internally asserts its products comprehensively surpass Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) L-series EREVs, according to Sina Tech.
The Star Auto model, named D9, will come in Standard, Pro, Max, and Ultra versions, priced between RMB 269,900 ($37,960) and RMB 589,900, the report said.
