Macron warns that violent overthrow of Iranian regime will spark regional "chaos"
According to Politico, French President Macron on Tuesday opposed the violent overthrow of the Iranian regime, warning that it could have destabilizing effects on the entire Middle East. "The biggest mistake today is trying to change the regime in Iran through military means because it would lead to chaos," Macron told reporters on the last day of the G7 summit in Canada. He warned,"No one can say what will happen next. We have never supported actions that undermine regional stability." Macron mentioned that the regime changes imposed by the United States and NATO allies in Iraq and Libya were mistakes made in the past and should not be repeated because they led to subsequent fatal political instability.
