SEC to review executive compensation disclosure rules
According to online reports, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that it will hold a roundtable meeting on June 26 to discuss executive compensation disclosure requirements with representatives of listed companies, investors and experts in related fields. The statement said that executive compensation disclosure requirements are expanding to increasingly focus on changes in various components of compensation rather than total compensation, and that "it is unclear whether increased complexity provides investors with additional information critical to investment and voting decisions." The U.S. SEC said it must conduct a retrospective review of executive compensation disclosure rules to ensure that they continue to be cost-effective and disclose key information while avoiding too much non-material information.
