Brazil's central bank service provider C&M has been attacked and some $140 million of stolen funds have been converted into cryptocurrency "

Internet reports that according to encryption detective ZachXBT, Brazil's central bank service provider C&M Software suffered a cyber attack and lost approximately US$140 million, making it one of the most serious cyber security incidents this year. The attackers converted fiat currencies into Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT, operating through Latin American over-the-counter trading platforms and exchanges, and estimated that at least $30 - 40 million was converted to cryptocurrencies. An investigation by Brazilian law enforcement agencies found that the hacker paid only $2760 to a C&M employee to obtain his corporate login credentials. Currently, agencies are freezing funds and tracking unmarked OTC trading channels, but the incident has not been widely reported outside Brazil.
