China NEV retail at 502,000 in Aug 1-17, up 9% year-on-year

China's new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales continued to see moderate growth in the first 17 days of this month.

From August 1 to 17, China's passenger NEV retail sales totaled 502,000 units, up 9 percent year-on-year and up 12 percent month-on-month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

So far this year, China's cumulative retail sales of passenger NEVs reached 6.958 million units, up 28 percent year-on-year.

Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs from August 1 to 17 came in at 474,000 units, up 18 percent year-on-year and up 10 percent month-on-month, according to the CPCA.

So far this year, China's cumulative wholesale sales of passenger NEVs reached 8.108 million units, up 34 percent year-on-year.

From August 1 to 17, China's total retail sales of passenger vehicles reached 866,000 units, up 2 percent year-on-year and 8 percent month-on-month.

Year-to-date, China's cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles reached 13.61 million units, up 10 percent year-on-year.

This means that the penetration rate of NEVs in retail sales was 58.0 percent in August 1-17 and 51.12 percent year-to-date.

In the first week of August, from August 1 to 10, the average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 45,207, down 4 percent year-on-year, but up 6 percent over the same period last month.

In the second week of August, from July 11 to 17, the average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 59,068, up 8 percent year-on-year and up 10 percent over the same period last month.

From August 1 to 17, China's wholesale sales of all passenger cars were 841,000 units, up 20 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent month-on-month.

From August 1 to 10, China's daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 40,253 units, up 16 percent year-on-year, but down 3 percent month-on-month.

From August 1 to 17, the average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 62,690, up 22 percent year-on-year and up 19 percent over the same period last month.

So far this year, wholesale sales of passenger cars in China have reached 16.37 million, up 13 percent year-on-year.
