Polygon joint venture Baylina and zkEVM core team to launch a new project Zisk

According to online reports, Polygon co-founder Jordi Baylina posted on social media that he and the zkEVM core team have officially operated independently and the new project is named Zisk. This transformation comes as the Polygon Foundation prepares to phase out the zero-knowledge proof EVM network, which has low usage. It is reported that Zisk will focus on developing low-latency, open source zkVM verification technology. The project has been incubated within Polygon Labs since May 2024 and completed its independent split on June 13. According to the split agreement, all intellectual property rights and core team of Polygon zkEVM have been transferred to SilentSig GmbH, a Swiss company wholly owned by Baylina. Baylina remains a co-founder of Polygon and serves as an advisor. Last week, after Sandeep Nailwal, another co-founder, took over as CEO of the foundation, he announced that he would phase out the zkEVM chain and concentrate resources on developing Polygon PoS and AggLayer cross-chain aggregation protocols.
