ZKSync responds to U.S. regulatory investigation: advising users in the United States to suspend high-risk operations
According to online reports, ZKsync posted on the X platform,"In view of recent actions taken by U.S. regulators such as the U.S. Treasury Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), ZKSync confirmed that it has been notified and is investigating activities involving zkEVM-based applications accessible to U.S. users. In addition, preliminary notices indicate that sanctions and enforcement actions may be taken against certain entities within the ZKSync ecosystem, charging them with violations of U.S. securities laws, anti-money laundering/KYC compliance and sanctions evasion. Although ZKSync operates as a decentralized protocol, we recognize that these developments may affect user access, mobility provision, and developer operations within U.S. jurisdictions. Starting now, ZKSync is taking the following steps: Working with external legal and compliance teams to respond to regulatory investigations. Projects and users in the United States are advised to suspend high-risk decentralized finance (DeFi) and bridging-related activities until further clarity on the situation. Start a dialogue with key partners and infrastructure providers to assess risk exposures and ensure the integrity of the agreement. ZKSync is always committed to maintaining transparency and ensuring the security of its ecosystem. As important information becomes available, we will release further updates. This is an ongoing legal matter and we urge all users and partners to exercise a high degree of caution during this period."
