An executive at Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) has shared camouflaged images of the new Lafa 5 model, with the hatchback set to debut in four days.

Xu Jun, senior vice president and COO of the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, posted two images on Weibo today showing the Lafa 5 covered in camouflage wraps.

The Lafa 5 is a coupe designed for young people worldwide, featuring a wide body and sporty stance, Xu said.

Leapmotor first mentioned the Lafa 5 when announcing August delivery figures on September 1, stating the model would debut at the Munich auto show on September 8.

The Lafa 5 will put Leapmotor into the fiercely competitive electric hatchback market, competing against models including the Volkswagen ID.3, SAIC MG4, BYD Dolphin, and Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) Firefly EV.

Leapmotor's current lineup sold in China includes the T03, B10, B01, C01, C10, C11, and C16.

The T03, B01, and B10 are available only as battery electric vehicles (BEVs), while the other models also offer extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.

Leapmotor delivered 57,066 vehicles in August, marking its fourth consecutive month of record-high deliveries.

This marks the second time Leapmotor surpassed the 50,000-unit monthly delivery mark, representing an 88.31 percent year-on-year increase and a 13.84 percent rise from July.
