Deciding factors in the EU-U.S. trade deal: automobiles, agriculture and Trump

According to online reports, according to people familiar with the matter, as the EU and the United States work to reach a temporary trade agreement in the next few days, automobile and agricultural tariff levels have become key sticking points in negotiations between the two sides. People familiar with the matter said the EU is seeking export tariffs of no more than 10%. Some automakers have previously pushed for an offset mechanism that would exchange corporate investment in the United States for tariff exemptions, but the mechanism is currently not under consideration because of concerns from the EU that it could lead to production shifting across the Atlantic. The above-mentioned person added that EU negotiators are currently focusing on the issue of car tariffs. Because the talks were not discussed publicly, people familiar with the matter asked to remain anonymous.
