Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO), achieved record deliveries this month as its flagship electric SUV, the L90, met internal target.

Onvo achieved record deliveries in August, with L90 deliveries reaching 10,000 units today, Shen Fei, president of the brand, said during a briefing on the first day of the 2025 Chengdu auto show.

Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of Nio Inc, delivered the 10,000th L90 at the Chengdu auto show to renowned Chinese actor Guo Tao.

Onvo began deliveries of its first model, the L60 midsize SUV, in September 2024. Its previous record was 10,528 units delivered in December last year.

The brand unveiled the seven-seat variant of the L90 at the Chengdu auto show today, marking its first public display.

Onvo officially launched the L90 on July 31 and commenced deliveries of the SUV the following day, August 1.

The L90 currently in delivery is the six-seat version. Nio management previously said that deliveries of the seven-seat variant would begin in late September.

Earlier this month, local media outlet Yiou reported that Shen had told his team the L90 must exceed 10,000 deliveries in August.

Today's announcement suggests the Onvo L90 could become Nio Inc's highest-selling model by monthly deliveries to date.

Previously released data show the ES6 SUV currently holds Nio Inc's record for highest monthly deliveries, with 11,118 units delivered in July 2023, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Earlier this week, Deutsche Bank projected in a research note that Nio Inc's August deliveries would reach 32,000 units -- representing a month-on-month increase of about 52 percent and a year-on-year growth of about 59 percent.

The team expected deliveries for Nio Inc's three brands -- Nio, Onvo, and Firefly -- to reach 11,000, 17,000, and 4,000 units respectively in August.
